DVHS Band Parent Board Nomination Information
Nominations are being accepted for next year’s board which takes office on June 1st of each year. We are in urgent need of new members to replace members who are graduating out including the President position. The Election vote will be held on 5/17 at the General Band Parent Volunteer Meeting/Ice Cream Social.
The board meets regularly throughout the year to coordinate the volunteer effort needed to support the band. When and how frequently to meet is decided by the board. Historically the board has met once per month.
- Officers are elected annually for a term of one year.
- Officers must have a student in the DVHS band.
- You may nominate yourself for an office.
- You may nominate someone else for an office, but only if you've spoken with them and know that they are willing to serve on next year's board
Guidelines and Requirements

PRESIDENT: The President shall preside at all meetings of the membership and the Executive Board, establish standing committees and appoint and remove committee chairpersons, appoint a nominating committee prior to the annual meeting, and call for an audit of the organization's financial status prior to the close of the year's activities. The President shall also be, or appoint a parent volunteer member as, the Deer Valley HS Band Parent Volunteers' representative to Deer Valley Unified School District.
VICE PRESIDENT: Vice President shall assume the duties of and exercise the powers of the President in the absence of the President. Vice President shall assume the office of President should that office become vacant at any time after the election of officers. The Vice President shall also perform such other duties as directed by the President.
SECRETARY: The Secretary shall keep accurate records and minutes of all meetings of the membership and the Executive Board, maintain all records, and conduct the correspondence of the organization as directed by the President.
TREASURER: The Treasurer shall keep accurate records of all financial matters regarding the Deer Valley HS Band Parent Volunteers and shall regularly report the financial standing of the Deer Valley HS Band Parent Volunteers to the Executive Board and to the membership when directed to do so by the Executive Board. Account shall be maintained at an insured financial institution.
MEMBERS-AT-LARGE: The number of Members-At-Large will be determined by the yearly need to help with the band volunteer activities. The Executive Board shall set the needs of Members at Large.
